Fred Ruiz and his father, Louis, had a simple goal — to sell frozen Mexican foods based on the family recipes of Grandma Rosie. Ruiz Foods started in California’s Central San Joaquin Valley in 1964 selling authentic Mexican style burritos, enchiladas and tamales to local ‘mom and pop’ grocery stores.

Today, their El Monterey™ brand is the #1 frozen Mexican food brand in the U.S. and their Tornados® brand is a leading roller grill snack brand.
